She Ran Away From Love #BlogTour

The Light of Love pours down on Frilly. It shines so brightly that she quails and runs away.

Upset with herself for feeling scared, she wakes her good friend Mawson and pours out her confusions. She wants to learn how to be bold and is convinced that she can do this by going on a quest.

With muddled help from Mawson she sets off into the great Out There. But is a quest to find oneself really the answer?

How did I get the book? Received from publisher/author in exchange for an honest review.

Genre: Picture Books

Review: While this is a picture book it’s more for adults then for children. Frilly has all the hard questions:

‘Who am I, really?’
‘How do I find out?’
‘Will I ever find happiness?’

In an attempt to find the answers, she sets out on a quest by herself. The resolution is also multi-layered, something that I think works for adult readers but if directed as young children might be confusing.

I enjoyed that this picture book was for a “grown-up” audience and the message it was trying to project. I am not a huge fan of varying fonts and colours and this book does have a few, so I feel that they lose the effectiveness because of that. However, bears in the story are cute and the photography tells the story well. The story is there and lingers because it makes you think.

Author Bio –
Mawson, a big hearted, soul searching teddy bear, is here to help. He is one of this bright world’s few Writer-Bears. He speaks about Being One’s Best in an world that is often baffling – and not only for bears. He is often muddled about things (well, he is a bear). But he is always confident that things are going to turn out All Right.
