Marieke has kindly delved into the This Is Where It Ends playlist for us 🙂

Opportunity, theme song:
Five For Fighting – Slice

Hey man sing me a song
When we were everyone
We were more than just a slice
Of American Pie
Marieke: This was one of the first songs on my playlist and so, so perfect for how I imagined Opportunity to be. A slice of life. A little bit of everywhere. And at the same time, uniquely Autumn’s. And Sylv’s. And Tomás and Fareed’s. And Mei’s. And Matt’s. And Claire’s. And Jay’s. And CJ’s. And all of them.

Tomás’s song:
Pete Murray – Opportunity

Find your mirror, go and look inside
And see the talent you always hide
Don’t go kid yourself, well not today
Satisfaction’s not too far away
(Don’t be scared of what you cannot see
Your only fear is possibility)
Marieke: I love how upbeat this song is (at least compared to the others on my playlist) while still having quite a message. It reminded me a lot of Tomás in his initial chapters. He worries so much, especially lately, and he struggles with not being enough. But there is so much more to him than the eye can see.

A song for Autumn and Tyler:
A Great Big World – Say Something

Say something, I’m giving up on you
I’m sorry that I couldn’t get to you
Anywhere, I would’ve followed you
Say something, I’m giving up on you
Marieke: There’s a lot left unsaid in how Autumn and Tyler grew apart. There are many ways they both tried and sometimes failed. And this song, to me, really reflected how Autumn felt about Tyler, as she faced him, as he turned into the boy with the gun.
