Previously reviewed: Half Bad
Synopsis: Set in the months before Half Bad, Half Lies takes the form of a diary written by Michele, the sister of Gabriel, Nathan’s Black witch friend. Having fled Europe for Florida, Michele falls in love with a local White witch boy. There, she finds that the divide between the Black and White witch communities is just as dangerous as it was in the life she’s left behind.
Mini review: Gabriel was one of the character in Half Bad I liked best so finding out more about his past was enough enticement to read Half Lies.
Michele’s narration pulls you in and I loved the little ‘notes’ that Gabriel would, on occasion, leave in her diary. The relationship between the two of them is close. One of the things I liked best though, was that Michele was feisty.
Half Lies is a little predictable but that didn’t stop me from enjoying it. Just gave me the chance to prepare. I think all the Half Bad stories will come with heartache.
