Genre: Science Fiction

Synopsis: A boy drowns, desperate and alone in his final moments. He dies.

Then he wakes, naked, bruised and thirsty, but alive.

How can this be? And what is this strange, deserted place?

As he struggles to understand what is happening, the boy dares to hope. Might this not be the end? Might there be more to this life, or perhaps this afterlife.

From multi-award-winning author Patrick Ness comes one of the most provocative and moving novels of our time.

200words (or less) review: At the beginning the boy drowns. He wakes up in a deserted town and then… well then I’m stuck on how to review this book without giving anything away.

More Than This is heart-breaking, emotional and dark. It’s a story about love, forgiveness, friendship, hope and the unbelievable. It’s a book that you’ll invest time in and that will have your attention long after the last page is read – trust me.

Emotionally Patrick Ness sent me all over the place. The book is split in parts, the first part is about the boy and how he came to drown. If that wasn’t enough you have everything else (that I can’t tell you… sorry). I never knew what would come next. You’re reading and suddenly you’re being hit by THIS and end up in THAT part of the story and then let’s send you THERE making More Than This such an amazing reading experience.

If you get a chance to read this I hope you do because More Than This is so worth it.

  1. This sounds really intriguing! The review reminds me of reviews of The Quick because there was a lot of the book that readers couldn’t talk about. I think I’ll read this after I’ve finished Will Grayson, Will Grayson.
