Synopsis: You belong to the blade now. You’ll belong to it until the day you die…
The Spook, Tom and Alice travel to Ireland, fleeing from the war in the County. There, Tom must tackle a group of evil mages who are desperate to rid their land of the Spook and his apprentice, and to increase their own dark powers.
His dangerous mission against the mages leads Tom to the Destiny Blade – a sword with a dark side, and a thirst for blood… Will this new weapon give him a fighting chance against the Fiend?
If he’s to survive, he’ll need training, and only one person can help – Grimalkin, the witch assassin. The dark against the dark…

200words (or less) review: I think this is one of my favourite books in the series so far. So much happens, most of which I can’t really discuss without spoiling it. However I will say there is a big leap in the Tom/Alice/Fiend storyline and I so can’t wait to see what the next book brings.

The Spook’s Destiny isn’t perfect, despite Alice, Grimalkin (who is fast becoming one of my favourite characters) and now even the Spook’s insistence that Tom is growing into his calling (or ‘destiny’ according to Grimalkin) I’m still not seeing a lot of character development from the 12 year old boy in the first book.  Actually at times he’s really starting to annoy me because he’s either the most trusting boy there is or doesn’t think things through. This seventh son of seventh son sense he supposedly has seems absent most of the time.

Despite my misgiving about Tom the story of The Spook’s Destiny had me eagerly turning the pages until the very end. What happens to Alice takes everything up a gear, the last few chapters were amazing and I won’t be able to not finish this series.
