Top Ten Books When You Need Something Light & Fun

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish.

Welcome, Caller, This is Chloe by Shelley Coriell
Chloe is happy, caring and wants to prove there is fun in everything, even cleaning office buildings.

Rockoholic by C J Skuse
Imagine you kidnap your favourite singer and keep him in the garage… Of course you need to read this.

Enchanted by Alethea Kontis
All the things you love in fairytales with some really inspired re-inventions of classic stories.

Kiss, Date, Love, Hate by Luisa Plaja
Great idea, pristine writing and wonderful characters. If Lex doesn’t convince you after the first chapter I’ll eat marshmallows and I HATE marshmallows. *

Geek Girl by Holly Smale
Geeky Cinderella story with one of the most entertaining father’s in YA.

Adorkable by Sarra Manning
Jeane Smith is still one of my all-time favourite characters. She is smart, very opinionated but above all unique. Better yet she is a pain in the backside.

Amy & Roger’s Epic Detour by Morgan Matson
Road trip love story with good characters, entertaining extras and the YES moment you anticipate from the first chapter.

My Fair Godmother by Janette Rallison
It shouldn’t work – it’s so over the top but Janette Rallison pulls it off with style.

Geekhood: Close Encounters of the Girl Kind by Andy Robb
You’ll be laughing so much your sides will hurt.

Dash & Lily’s Book of Dares by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan
Doesn’t need to be read at Christmas, just needs to be read. Like now!

What are you feel-good reads?

*My dislike of marshmallows seems strange to people
but just thinking of eating them makes me shudder.

  1. Woohoo! Adorkable is a fab read. I should’ve put Geek Girl on mine too. Great list.

  2. Sarra Manning did an amazing short story column thing for Just 17 when I was younger about an art student and the totally hot guy she had a crush on. Your choice has brought back many memories!
