Unsurprisingly the journey there wasn’t as straight forward due to maintenance work on the Underground. Very surprisingly however, I didn’t get completely lost.
WIN for the girl with no sense of direction.
This brunch is the first time I’ve ever been at a publishers so I was really excited (which is probably why I hadn’t slept all that much the night before) and honestly a little nervous because I didn’t know anyone. No need for worrying though because everyone was lovely including the person who handed me a much needed cup of tea upon my arrival.
Once everyone was there Templar and HKB talked us through some of their releases for the year. We were so many of us Bloggers that I ended up sitting on a stool at the back with Stacey from Pretty Books, we did have a third stool for food and drink though ;).
There were SO many books I wanted to read (imagine my joy when I found a large chunk of them in our goody bag), below is a scan of my rather awful notes and random doodles;
After that we all mingled. I realised I’d actually knew a few people from twitter but it was great to put faces to the name.
HKB and Templar had arranged for six authors to be there; Clare McFall , Alex Gutteridge , Julie Mayhew , Alison Rattle , Matt Whyman & Karen Saunders all of whom chatted and signed our books (reminding me again that I should not be scared about talking to authors) & continued to add to the general awesomeness of the day.
Laden with books and a stupid grin I left HKB office and headed for Covent Garden where I found a place to sit and read until my friends came to find me. 🙂
