“Some day you will be old enough to start reading fairy tales again” -C.S.Lewis

How did I get the book?  Magic Box Book

Genre: Classics

Synopsis: A trustee of the John Grier orphanage has offered to send Judy Abbott to college. The only requirements are that she must write to him every month, and that she can never know who he is. Judy’s life at college is a whirlwind of friends, classes, parties, and a growing friendship with the handsome Jervis Pendleton. With so much happening in her life, Judy can scarcely stop writing to the mysterious “Daddy-Long-Legs”!

200words (or less) review: I love this books the same way I love Little Woman, it’s so sweet.  It just makes you happy.

The book starts with Judy being told about her scholarship, her first letter to Daddy-Long-Legs is about arriving at college. With the exception of the third person narration at the beginning of the story the entire book is told in the letters Judy sends.

Judy’s letters are funny and sweet with an occasional argument when Daddy-Long-Legs sends instructions through is secretary that Judy doesn’t agree with. Judy is a very intelligent young woman, she is outspoken and proud. While highly appreciative of Daddy-Long-Legs scholarship she plans to pay him back the money and works hard at his request for her to become a writer.

The book might be 100 years old but the story is timeless. Daddy-Long-Legs is honestly one of the best books I’ve read this year and I know I’ll be re-reading it regularly.
